Shardul Thakur Trains with LSG: Indian all-rounder Shardul Thakur has been seen training with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for IPL 2025. This has come as a shock to many, as he remained unsold in the mega auction.

Images of Shardul training with Lucknow Super Gaints LSG have emerged on the internet, fueling rumors that he could be signed by the team as a replacement. A report by Times of India confirmed that he was present at LSG’s training camp on Sunday, March 16, in the team’s training kit.

Shardul Thakur went unsold in IPL 2025 mega auction 

Shardul walked into the auction with a base price of ₹2 crore but went unsold. He appeared in nine games for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) during IPL 2024 before being released. Previously, he has represented Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi Capitals, Punjab Kings, and Rising Pune Super giants.

LSG injury scare sparks rumours 

LSG has injury issues on the cards for the upcoming season, thus Shardul proves to be a good pick. Fast bowlers Mayank Yadav, Mohsin Khan, and Avesh Khan remain to be cleared by the National Cricket Academy (NCA). Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has been cleared to feature only as a batter because of a back injury.

Once again unsold at the auction, Shardul went back to domestic cricket to establish his credentials. For Mumbai in the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy, he impressed everyone with both the bat and ball. He scored 505 runs in nine games with an average of 42.08, with a century and four half-centuries. He also had 35 wickets at an average of 22.62.

Chance to Indian Test team return for Shardul Thakur

India will be touring England for a Test series in June 2025. Shardul will be looking to make a national team return. A good IPL season may enhance his prospects.
