Ashwin wanted to retire after his 100th Test, which was in Dharamsala during England’s tour of India. He even invited MS Dhoni to be there and hand him a special memento. But Dhoni could not attend the match.
‘I called MS Dhoni for my 100th Test in Dharamshala to hand over the memento. I wanted to make that my last Test. But he couldn’t make it. However, I didn’t think he would give me the gift of getting me back to CSK. It’s a much better one. So, thank you, MS, for doing it. I’m glad to be here,’ – Ravichandran Ashwin
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) organized a ceremony for Ashwin’s milestone. He received a memento from the BCCI, but he wished MS Dhoni was the one to hand it over. Speaking at a book launch event in Chennai, Ashwin revealed that though his wish was unfulfilled, he got an even bigger surprise later.
