Mumbai Indians captain Harmanpreet Kaur remained confident and upbeat despite her team facing a grueling schedule ahead of the summit clash of the Women’s Premier League 2025 (WPL 2025). The WPL 2025 Final will be the repeat of the 2023 season as Mumbai Indians will take on Delhi Capitals in the title clash on Saturday, March 15, at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. It will be Kaur and her girls’ fourth match within a week, while Meg Lanning and her team are fresh for the WPL 2025 final.

The Delhi Capitals have enjoyed a longer break since their last league game against the Gujarat Giants on March 7. However, Kaur sees this as an advantage, as the Indian skipper believes that the constant game time has helped her team stay in rhythm and sharpen their strategies and understanding of how to approach different phases of the game, both with the bat and ball.

Harmanpreet Kaur said on the eve of the WPL 2025 Final, “I see it in a positive way. We know what area to bowl, how to bat, how to execute yourself in a better way, and which overs to take care of without losing too many wickets. I know we played three games in four days, but we enjoyed all three matches, and tomorrow is an important match, and everybody is looking forward to that.”

Harmanpreet Kaur praises Hayley Matthews ahead of the Women’s Premier League 2025 Final

Harmanpreet Kaur also praised the West Indies all-rounder Hayley Matthews for her outstanding performance in the ongoing Women’s Premier League 2025. She is currently the leading wicket-taker in the WPL 2025 with 17 wickets in nine matches, averaging 15.88.

Hayley has also been impressive with the bat for the MI in the ongoing WPL 2025, scoring 304 runs in nine innings, including three half-centuries and a top score of 77.

Kaur added, “She’s someone who’s always wanted to bowl for the team. She’s someone who even wants to start with a smile; she always, you know, wants to take the first over. So, I think someone who is so excited to ball all the time, I think that person, just imagine how confident she is.”

Our deep batting lineup gave us confidence: Kaur

Harmanpreet is confident that Mumbai’s deep batting lineup will be a key advantage against Delhi Capitals in the WPL 2025 final. She believes that having strong hitters down the order allows her to play with more freedom, without the pressure of holding back.

With players like Amanjot Kaur stepping up, Harmanpreet said she as a captain feels mentally assured and they are ready to take on the challenge with an aggressive mindset against Delhi in the final on Saturday.

Kaur signed off by saying, “The team has a very long batting lineup. So, that gave us confidence that I don’t need to wait for a bit of time and rotate strikes and play the big shots only when the time is right. That has given me the leverage to go and play free cricket.”
