After Babar, along with Mohammad Rizwan and others, were dropped from the Pakistan team, it was reported that they would be playing National T20 in an attempt to stage a comeback in the side. However, it won’t be the case as Babar, along with Naseem himself, withdrew from the tournament.

Given the inconsistent policies of the national selectors, these players are aware they will be back in the national T20 side – PCB source

A source close to the PCB said that Babar Azam and other players have a great opportunity to make a comeback in the T20I setup. He mentioned that they have to perform well in the Pakistan Super League. He said:

“Given the inconsistent policies of the national selectors, these players are aware they will be back in the national T20 side if they just turn in a few good performances in the PSL which will also lead to them being hyped up on social media,”

Babar Azam has been undergoing a poor patch in his career

Babar Azam has been undergoing a poor patch in his career. The premier batter, since the last few years, has struggled to get going and has faced a lot of criticism for that as well. It has been such severe that his place in the team too has come under doubt as well.

Babar failed in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. He was handed the responsibility to open the innings but he couldn’t deliver. The premier batter hit one fifty against New Zealand but it was very slow in the context of the game and then again failed to score big against India.

His poor performance was one of the major reasons why Pakistan struggled to get going in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The Mohammad Rizwan-led side failed to win a single game and were the first team to be eliminated from the tournament.
