Former CSK cricketer Ambati Rayudu is known for his rivalry with RCB and their fans. Rayudu has often been critical of RCB’s approach and has even blasted them for not winning any IPL trophy so far.
Just days before the beginning of IPL 2025, Ambati Rayudu decided to take another dig at the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and asked the franchise to focus on cricket rather than trying to spend money on PR.
Ambati Rayudu takes a brutal dig at RCB ahead of IPL 2025
Ambati Rayudu took to social media to blast RCB’s tactics. He advised the franchise to focus on cricket rather than trying hard to control the narrative on social media through paid PR.
The former India batter feels that focusing on cricket will help RCB more if they care about winning games. While Rayudu didn’t take anyone’s name, it was clear that he decided to fire up his old rivalry with RCB through this post.
“Instead of spending money on paid pr and paid comments to control the narrative and focus internally and on cricket you might just come close to winning,” Rayudu posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Ambati Rayudu’s massive dig at RCB in IPL 2024
Ambati Rayudu had previously mocked RCB after they were knocked out of IPL 2024 by losing to Rajasthan Royals in the eliminator. Rayudu took a cheeky dig at the franchise that beating CSK is not enough to win the trophy and they need to make better plans to achieve it.
“If you talk about RCB today, it shows that only passion and aggressive celebrations don’t win you trophies. You need to plan. You didn’t get the IPL trophy just by reaching the playoffs. You have to play with the same hunger,” Rayudu had said on Jio Cinema.
“Don’t think you will win the IPL trophy just by beating CSK. You will have to come next year once again,” the former CSK batter added.
RCB defeated CSK in their last league game to make it to the playoffs in a dramatic fashion last year. Rayudu was particularly critical of RCB players’ wild celebrations where they were highly passionate and his comments went viral.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru won six matches on the trot in IPL 2024 to make it to the playoffs last season. It was a stunning turnaround for a team that was at the bottom of the points table after the initial stages of the tournament.
RCB’s opening match in IPL 2025
Royal Challengers Bengaluru will face the defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders in the opening match of IPL 2025 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata on March 22. They will look to start their campaign on a high with a new-look team.
RCB finished fourth last season as they lost to Rajasthan Royals in the Eliminator after winning six matches on the trot. They are also one of the only three teams in IPL history not to have any IPL titles so far who have been a part of the league right from the start.
